The driveway is huge with ample room for a wheelchair van. The foyer is large as well – plenty of turn-around room. The front walk is a sloped ramp from the driveway to the front door and there are no stairs out to the deck.
There are no stairs at all. There are no thresholds between
the rooms (the hardwood floors and tile floors are designed to meet
seamlessly). All doorways are 3' wide.
The guest bathroom is supplied with a high (ADA) toilet with a grab bar, a portable shower chair, and a hand-held shower head.
Mirrors are hung low; one closet rod is lowered for easy reach. There is room in the bedroom to "park" a wheelchair alongside the bed. All of the light switches are lower and outlets are higher.
For most guests with mobility problems (walkers, canes, standard-sized wheelchairs, etc.) or for those who can easily stand and pivot to transfer, this suite is very accommodating. For others who cannot easily transfer, we are pleased to offer our master bathroom with a roll-in shower area. We are, of course, happy to move (or remove) furnishings or scatter rugs as per your requirements. (The owner is a wheelchair user and designed the home to serve her particular needs. House tours are available!)
